Overview
Conceived and co-built SettledIn, a social networking app that helps people moving to a new city quickly build real local connections. Rather than starting from scratch, SettledIn surfaces second-degree connections — friends of friends — already living in the destination, enabling warm introductions and collaborative city exploration before and after the move. The concept pitched at our Fall 2025 investor mock competition and took 2nd place.

01 · Problem
Moving to a new city is one of the most socially disruptive life events — people arrive knowing no one, and existing apps are built for romance, professional networking, or content consumption. None of them address the specific gap of social isolation during relocation. Most movers don't realize they already have trusted second-degree connections in their new city waiting to be surfaced.
02 · Solution
Second-degree connection matching
SettledIn uses social graph data to surface 'friends of friends' in the user's destination city — making first connections warm and trusted from day one, not cold swipes from a stranger pool.
Collaborative city exploration
Matched pairs can chat and discover local spots together through the in-app experience — a low-pressure way to turn a mutual connection into a real friendship in a new place.
